On Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (Review)

So over the last couple of weeks I have been playing through Assassin’s Creed Syndicate on the PS4. This is the 9th main series game, there are more handheld games but going off of the PS3/PS4 games it’s 9th. This is the follow up to Unity which came out last November. The story this time takes place in Victorian London starting in 1868 and follows two assassins siblings, Jacob and Evie Frye. The story is pretty standard Assassin’s Creed fair, hunt Templars, kill Templars and get collectibles. Overall I would say the story is good, but it feels a bit short compared to older games. The number of memory sequences has dropped down to 9 main story sequences this time. These were split between the two characters, so while you can do free play roaming as either character missions are specific to characters. I think if you just focused on … Read more…

On Weekend Roundup

This weekend, like most, went by pretty quickly. I’m currently sitting at my desk at work dreading actually starting my day (thanks a lot upcoming 5 hour meeting). So here’s a quick run down for the weekend. Friday afternoon my copy of Assassins Creed Syndicate came in the mail so every minute after that was spent counting down the time left before I could go home and play. I was expecting a day one patch because that’s just a thing I expect now, even if I really shouldn’t. Most games have a hefty patch but this one seemed pretty small. I didn’t check the download size because by the time I put the disc in and came back a couple minutes later it was already done, so it couldn’t have been that big of a download. So most of my weekend was spent playing this, and right now I’m thoroughly … Read more…

On Weekend Round-Up (10/17-10/18)

So as most weekends do this past one went by pretty quick. As usual I really didn’t get anything accomplished, unless you count watching movies and playing games as getting things accomplished. This weekend consisted of three games, and six movies. Game wise I tried playing some more Destiny, and continue to struggle with it now that I’m at the “farming” stage of the game. Maybe it’s me but I really don’t feel like I enjoy farming in this game. Not really much to this as I probably only played it for an hour or two all weekend. I’m just having a hard time with the game. I feel like it could be much better than it is, and maybe my lack of enjoyment comes from only being able to do the solo content. The second game is Assassins Creed Unity. I want to play through the story again before … Read more…

On Weekend Roundup

So I’m going to try something new today which is to talk about some things that I did over the weekend. Not that there is going to be any constincy to what I actually do during the weekend so topics may vary a bit. I’m kind of stealing the idea from my friend Bel who has been doing week in review style post for the last couple of weeks. So this weekend turned in to mostly movies with a little bit of time spent playing video games. I’ll start off with the gaming since it is a bit shorter. Primarily I played Destiny because I’m trying to get my money’s worth out of it before Assassins Creed Syndicate comes out in a couple of weeks. I can’t say I really did much because I’m at that point where the only way for me to get gear is to try to … Read more…

On Scheduling Game Time

As of today now there are 6 days left in August (not including today), getting close to the end here. Today I thought I’d talk a little bit of a mixture of gaming and personal stuff. So bear with me here. So if you keep up with me on twitter, or have seen other times I have mentioned this you’ll know that early in July I lost my best friend in the world to depression. It’s been a difficult period in my life because frankly I’ve never had to deal with losing anyone I cared about. To say it’s been difficult is a bit of an understatement but it’s hard to describe how hard it is to come to terms with something like this. The one thing that seems to help is by keeping myself distracted. Now I don’t mean to say I’m not pretending things didn’t happen, I just … Read more…
