On Tomb Raider Definitive Edition

Over the last couple of weeks I have been playing Tomb Raider Definitive Edition on my PS4. I had tried playing the game when it originally came out on the PS3 in 2013 but got to a part that was frustrating and quit playing. A month or two ago I went out and purchased the PS4 version of this, as well as Rise of the Tomb Raider because I wanted to give it another shot. The reason I decided to give it another chance was mainly because since 2013 my gaming preferences have slightly altered and I wanted to play the newer one without missing out on the story. Up till this game I have never played, or at least never finished any other Tomb Raider game. I can’t remember if I played the original 20 years ago, but I don’t think I did. Overall I would say I enjoyed … Read more…

On My Final Thoughts On Dragon Age Inquisition

So a few days ago I finished up Dragon Age Inquisition on the PS4. I previously discussed the game when I first started playing. Now that I’ve finished up I thought I’d write up some final thoughts on the game. In my original post I guessed that there would be somewhere between 100-150 hours of gameplay. For the most part that was pretty accurate. My final total hours played was 115. That did include some time where I just had the game paused so a bit less. That is also just the total hours until I finished the main story, I’m sure that there are things that I missed. Graphics The graphics in this game are simply gorgeous. Every environment that I played in was beautiful and well designed. Maybe some more than others, but they were all fantastic. There is an amazing amount of detail put in to everything in … Read more…

On Destiny – Part 2

So now I’ve played a bit more Destiny I have a few more thoughts on it. I mentioned the general belief that there isn’t much story in the last post, and now that I’ve finished it I can’t say that the thought isn’t entirely unfounded. I don’t think that the story isn’t good, and I don’t feel like the acting was sub-pair as people have mentioned. The part I agree with is that the story mode is short. You can probably burn through the entire main story in a couple days. I think that Bungie felt that there would be enough additional story through their online Grimoire or Strikes to make up for it. I haven’t done a strike yet so I really don’t know how much story is involved in those. What I really want to talk about is post story content. Well, not that you have to wait … Read more…

On Destiny

So as I sit here at work waiting on servers to come back up from monthly maintenance I feel it is a good time to try and do a little bit of writing. As always I’m citing being super busy at work as my excuse for not posting, but there has also been some lack of desire to try to come up with relevant stuff to talk about. There hasn’t really been a huge shift in the games I’ve been playing lately. Mostly been back in Warcraft doing various things, watching lots of Hearthstone videos, and playing Diablo 3. I find it fairly difficult to juggle games. I started Last of Us only to have not played it in a month. Lately I’ve had so little motivation to do anything I usually just get home, complain to myself about apartment parking, eat food I shouldn’t be eating and then laying … Read more…

On Destiny

So, I’ve been a slacker and it’s been nearly a month since my last post. What can I say, things happened. I’ve been busy at work, and have been spending a good portion of my lunch breaks drawing which doesn’t leave me time at work to post. I could still post after work, but I’ve been doing kickboxing almost every day after work which tends to leave me a bit drained. Moving on though, this past weekend saw two beta tests come up. The Destiny beta for those that had pre-ordered the game, or knew someone who had an extra code (like I did). The other beta was the first closed beta weekend for ArcheAge, a game I’ve talked about a few times. Today I’ll be talking about the Destiny beta a bit. First off, I think Destiny has the potential to be a great game, maybe even a system … Read more…

On Murdered Soul Suspect (Review)

Before I start this up, I guested on my friend Bel’s podcast again this past weekend and we discussed some E3 stuff. Go and give it a listen here. I’m going to be a bit direct here and say that while I enjoyed some parts of the game, overall I feel very disappointed in how this game turned out. From every video I saw prior to release the game seemed to be pretty cool, and I do think that the premise is original and interesting, but that doesn’t save it from a not entirely positive review. So the structure of this post is going to be the things I like about the game, then the things I felt let down on and how they could have been done better. Keep in mind I am talking about the PS4 version, and as far as I know there is no planned DLC … Read more…

On Console Exclusivity

This week E3 is going on and the big companies are showing off their new games and product pitches. Yesterday both Microsoft and Sony held their big presentations talking about upcoming titles and how focused they are on providing content. Both companies tend to talk about their console exclusive titles, but also talk about cross console releases as well. The thing is both companies kept talking about how they’d have this title first or have this amount of exclusive content that you won’t get anywhere else. Every time I heard that I want to get a rolled up newspaper and whack the presenter on the nose saying “Bad presenter, stop withholding content from your players!”. I think it is dumb to separate what players get just because they may choose one console over another. Personally I own a PS4 (for arguments sake keeping this next gen). I don’t own a … Read more…

On Playing Multiple Games At Once

Todays topic is one I’ve thought about on and off for awhile now, and that is, is it really possible to effectively play more than one game at a time? I know plenty of people who are very good at this, or at least have an effective schedule set up to allow them to play more than one at a time. Personally I’m not very good at this, and often say I have video game ADD. For example, right now I have 2 reoccurring MMO games, World Of Warcraft and Elder Scrolls Online. These are on top of the other PC/Console games I’m trying to work through, namely Dark Souls 2 and the new Wolfenstein game. That list is going to grow pretty quick once Watchdogs and Murdered: Soul Suspect come out over the next couple of weeks. For me, this presents a bit of a dilemma, what game do … Read more…

On Upcoming Games and NBI

Upcoming Games So last night while talking with my pals in voice chat, the topic came up of a new MMO that is coming out sometime this year called ArcheAge and the various pay to test options that were available. First off though, a bit of background on the game. Granted, this is limited information, just what I’ve read and heard on the developer videos. From what I can gather this game was a Korean developed game that is being brought over by Trion Worlds (who produced Rift). So from what I can tell the game is already out there, or at least in there version of beta testing. Most of the videos I’ve watched are from folks who managed to get past some odd region locking. So right now Trion has the game in alpha testing, with beta testing coming up “soon”. Following a current trend with Free To … Read more…
