On A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Dark Zone

So lately I’ve been playing The Division on PC and while I’m not doing a full review just yet I just wanted to share a “funny” story that happened tonight while playing. To give a bit of background here, the Dark Zone is the area in The Division where you will run in to other players, and is supposed to be where you go for end game content as well as trying to find the best gear in the game. The problem here is that if you kill another player you get marked as a rogue agent, and can then be hunted down by other players and killed. Upon dying you lose experience and all the items you picked up in this zone. So realistically speaking why would you want to do that unless you’re just a jerk? So today I was playing co-op with one of my friends and … Read more…

On Assassins Creed Unity

So I know that this game came out around a month ago, but I wanted to finish the game before I posted anything on it. Granted I finished it a couple weeks ago, I’ve just been really busy with work. With that, I’d have to say this is probably my favorite game in the series since any of the Ezio trilogy. I just wasn’t a big fan of Assassins Creed 3, and while I thought Black Flag was fun I felt it relied heavily on the naval combat to make up for a lack of side quests. Granted there was quite a bit of collectibles to find, and assassin contracts to do, but I felt like I spent more time doing these things than I did actually doing main story or side quests. It has been a while since I played AC 2/Brotherhood/Revelations, so I don’t remember all the content … Read more…

On Console Exclusivity

This week E3 is going on and the big companies are showing off their new games and product pitches. Yesterday both Microsoft and Sony held their big presentations talking about upcoming titles and how focused they are on providing content. Both companies tend to talk about their console exclusive titles, but also talk about cross console releases as well. The thing is both companies kept talking about how they’d have this title first or have this amount of exclusive content that you won’t get anywhere else. Every time I heard that I want to get a rolled up newspaper and whack the presenter on the nose saying “Bad presenter, stop withholding content from your players!”. I think it is dumb to separate what players get just because they may choose one console over another. Personally I own a PS4 (for arguments sake keeping this next gen). I don’t own a … Read more…

On Aiden Pearce Is A Jerk (Watch Dogs Review)

Over this weekend I accomplished one task, that task being finishing up the story campaign in Watch Dogs. To be honest I didn’t keep track of how many hours I have invested in the game, but probably not as much as I’d like to think. I’m not sure how well the game is currently doing ratings wise, but from what I’ve heard people are saying they feel a bit let down by the game. Personally I enjoyed the game, but you only ever seem to hear the negative reviews because the other people are to busy enjoying the game. Now a bit of a disclaimer, I played the PS4 version of the game so I can’t attest to any PC / XBox One issues or graphical quality. I also didn’t watch much of the initial E3 demo from when the game was announced so I have no personal opinion about … Read more…

On Far Cry 3

I feel like I need more characters than twitter provides for once so I can accurately describe my experience with the game. I’ll start off by saying I played through this on the PC, not the console. I am not going to say any system is better than the other, I just enjoy playing on the computer when I can. I picked this one up on the PC mainly because my desktop could handle it and because it was on sale on Steam. Graphics: For the most part I really enjoyed how the game looked visually. I was able to really get in to the game while playing because the environments were so detailed. When crouching in the grass to try a stealth approach you could see in between individual blades of grass. The way the day/night cycles shifted was believable just because of the way the shadows were cast … Read more…
